Mariachi Mangosteen
Happy Friday everyone.
Wow can’t believe this week has gone by so fast..again! Do you all feel that time goes way too fast? I think I remember that I just celebrated New Year not too long ago, and now before I know it, we’re already in mid June! S.C.A.R.Y.
Today I absolutely did NOTHING for my project.
I did 2 Bodyrock.tv workouts which involve using my new toy that I got yesterday 😀 (love it btw!) and got a good 24 minute sweaty workout.
Refueled with this big ass plate of fried eggs, left over roasted curried cauliflower and 2 slices of sweet potatoes.
Then I was busy prepping and cooking some chicken for lunch and to bring to in-law’s place for dinner.
Baked Chicken Legs with Caramelized Shallots for lunch
Baked Taco Chicken Legs for dinner contribution
On our way to in-law’s place, we stopped by at some Asian grocery stores to pick up some veggies and more purple yams (they’re on sale for 99 cents/lbs! -SUHWEEET!)
Mother-in-Law was in charge of cooking this time and Father-in-Law went out to get some Chinese Pork BBQ and Peking Duck BBQ.
Of course FIL also made his famous handmade fish noodles, which I had some btw. It was once in a while thing and it was totally worth it!
Also some pork bone soup with white fungus (not exactly sure what it’s called btw)
And I had some stir fry veggies (abalone, bamboo shoots, mushrooms etc)
The biggest highlight of the dinner was these goodies that SIL (Sister-in-Law) bought when she went to Chinatown in downtown LA.
Fresh mangosteens! It was my FIRST time seeing these in the US. Usually I saw them either frozen or canned, which I know won’t taste anything good as the fresh ones!
Eating these totally brought back my childhood memory. I used to eat LOTS of these when I was little..they are so good! The closest description I could give it tastes almost like lychee, but not exactly. Sweet and a bit sour and very juicy. There are some seeds which you can swallow if it’s not too big.
Mangosteen fun facts: See these flower shape at the bottom of the fruit? These indicate how many seeds inside. 😀
Came back home, showered and blogging with mariachi band as my background music *SIGH, partying neighbor*
NOTE: And my internet DIED when I was about to publish this post! ARGH!
Have a great Father’s Day Weekend!

Aww, your lunch pplate looks so pretty again! 😀 I’ve never had a mangosteen. I liked lychees very much as a child, but now they’re too sweet for my taste, so I think I’d like this one if it’s more sour. 🙂
I am so happy you are enjoying your dip station! So glad you like it! 🙂 I am enjoying my pullup bar now, pulling up like crazy and REALLY making progress on my upper body.
I just ate my dinner (2nd try on a Beef Steak, which really ended up being GREAT, not so hard as I expected), and I am just taking some time off before my workout. Yay for dipstations!!! 🙂
Before you know it, you’ll have a tremendous increase on you upper body strength! 😀 Good for you! Glad to hear your beef steak turned out good.
