Whole30: Day 3
First of all, I’d like to THANK YOU for subscribing and liking Delightful Taste Buds on Facebook. π I totally appreciate it and I’m glad I could inspire you for some healthy recipes and lifestyle. I’m far from perfect but I just want to share with all of you that keeping up a healthy lifestyle is not something that’s very difficult to do. Again, thank you!
How’s everyone’s 4th of July weekend (for those in the US) / weekend going? Today is my third Whole30 and so far so good. Even yesterday’s potluck wasn’t too bad either. I was sneaky enough not to be noticed by my aunts that I didn’t really have anything other than the salad and the dishes that I brought. Phew! Otherwise things could turn awkward right?
So wanna know what I had today?
We got back kinda late so we slept in a bit this morning. My abs and legs were sore from yesterday’s workout and I didn’t feel like to workout first thing in the morning, so I just headed up straight with breakfast: leftover from last night: roasted curried cauliflower and baked chicken leg which was marinated with Chipotle “Curry” Chives Seasonings.
Went out to grocery store to replenish our produce and I saw okra was on sale (69cent/lbs!) and got some. This was my first time cooking okra, so as usual when trying to cook something new, stir-fry is my first attempt!
I stir-fried these okras seasoned with my homemade Fox Point Seasonings. This dish was a win! Hubby K totally enjoyed it and he told me it reminds him of corn – probably from those seeds. We definitely be back to the store to grab more okras π
I also made Beef Steak with Balsamic Mushroom Sauce for the protein dish.
Lunch was super yummy and filling!
For a warm and humid summer afternoon, I decided to treat myself with some dessert, a bowl of strawberries. Seriously, these strawberries have been sitting in the fridge for a week and I gotta finish them before they start going bad.
Then I spent half of the afternoon marinating protein dishes (in this case mainly chicken breasts and whole chicken) so I’ll have something to cook tomorrow. I also experimented on mixing up different spice, herbs and nuts and will share the recipe if they turn out great.
Dinner was no cooking nor reheating required cause both Hubby K and Brother A would be out for dinner. So I just had whatever leftover from lunch plus one small Japanese sweet potato as my post workout meal/dinner. I have been debating for the entire day whether to skip the workout or do it. I did the latter and proud of it.
Whole30 Day 3: looking good!
Do you like okras and what’s your favorite way of cooking/eating it?

I must admit that I prefer fried okra over any other method π And those strawberries look so delicious, I need to get to the market soon!
Yay for okra! The only thing I miss about eating okra while on Whole30 is not adding chili (like belachan)! Good for you though. You’re going to kick ass on this Whole30! π
Thanks, hopefully nothing unforeseen going to challenge this Whole30 but you never know!
