First Carb Nite® Outing: 626 Night Market
When Carb Nite® (CN) day comes, it always feels like a Zen time for me. I usually enjoy my CN at home, relaxing, reading blogs or watching Japanese anime while munching my carb treats.
Last Saturday, however, was my very FIRST time being out from my comfort home on my CN day. I went to this 626 Night Market, which basically an Asian street food festival with my friend and her husband.
I haven’t seen my friend for almost 2-3 years so blowing off her invitation wouldn’t be nice thing to do.
You might be wondering what’s my dilemma of going out on CN day? WEll here’s the thing. The majority of food that are cooked outside are either:
- Cooked in vegetable oil
- Lots of processed sugars AND fructose
- Contains gluten, soy and other processed carbs
If you’ve read my previous posts regarding CN (here and here) none of those above will do me any good on my CN day.
Per Debby’s recommendation, I’ve prepared my own CN goodies and packed them up!!
Yup you read it right. Call me crazy but hey that’s how I roll.
Don’t get me wrong. I actually enjoyed something from one of the food stalls.
I had a grilled chicken hearts on a skewer asmy first CN snack. I think it was Cajun flavor but I’m pretty sure this was marinated with some sugar – it was a little sweet, but I wouldn’t sweat it.
Plus I was having fun taking all kinds of food that my friend and her hubby got. Check these out! I’d say they are both are quite adventurous eaters.
Have you been to a food festival before?
Happy weekend and I’m excited that tomorrow will be my CN again and this time I’ll be staying home to enjoy it! 🙂
