A Sinful Long Weekend
It was a Sinful Labor Day Long Weekend. Hubby and I went to Las Vegas aka the Sin City to have our little getaway. We don’t usually travel during long weekend because of the busy traffic.
However, looks like we beat the crowd by leaving on Friday morning!
Same thing as on our way back to LA! Smooth drive all the way!
Oh btw, we packed our own goodies as well. Look at this cooler box 😀 – fat and protein – mainly for me, and some veggie smoothie for hubby.
Unfortunately, when we got there, it wasn’t time for checking in yet so we hit up Wicked Spoon Buffet at this new hotel, The Cosmopolitan.
I was a bit starving when we were driving to Vegas, so I inhaled 3 fried eggs with 1 Tbsp butter. I felt a little silly for having those but actually I was quite glad I had a little something because to be honest, I didn’t have much ULC meal choice.
Desserts (except top right – some scrambled eggs and sausage with mashed potatoes)! | ||
Well they didn’t just serve desserts! I just didn’t bother to take pictures of pasta dish, miso soup, California rolls, and other dishes that were swimming in mystery sauce.
Despite all of those, I still had a kick-ass ULC meal!
Sin #1: ULC buffet meal – bone marrow, top sirloin, thick slice bacon.
Hubby enjoyed some other stuff like pizza, Korean bbq ribs and other dishes. They look good but he said taste-wise was ok, not super impressive. (no pictures – sorry! – use your imagination!)
After lunch, we checked into our hotel.
Sin #2: A hotel mini fridge! Without much thinking, we loaded it up with our cooler box goodies! Gotta keep our snacks unspoiled!
You know me that I couldn’t wait to check out the fitness center. It wasn’t bad at all! They have free weights, EZ Curl bar, and weight plates. I WAS IN HEAVEN! Plus I don’t have to fish around for the weights because nobody stole them!
Guess what, the hotel charged us $22 for pool, room internet and fitness center per day, regardless we used it or not. Heh, good thing at least I utilized the fitness center for 2 days!
The weather was surprisingly mild and a bit humid, which was unusual for Las Vegas.
After we settled down, we walked to MGM Grand to catch our 7pm KA Cirque dul Soleil Show. On our way there, we stopped by Aria, another new hotel just across from Paris Las Vegas where we stayed. It has quite interesting architecture inside.
Sin #3: Watched a Cirque du Soleil performer did DOUBLE UNDERS when up in the air, jumping on a moving object. All I can say is: HOLY CRAP! That surely put my skipping skills into a shame!
Sorry no picture. They specifically said NO pictures nor videos. Plus I enjoyed watching the performers nice glutes, legs and abs!
Afterward, we walked back to Paris Las Vegas, the hotel we were staying and I broke into my stash of mini beef patties (recipe similar to these Mini Tuna Patties) before went to bed. I had a good night sleep.
Saturday was my CARB NITE and the first thing I did for the day was hit the weights at the gym!
Sin #4: Hubby worked out together with me at the gym.
I felt such a luxurious for not having to rush through my workout, no need to fish around the weights plus no need to drive to go to a gym!
After working out, I had my usual post workout whey and fasted until 3pm. Most of our Saturday we spent just walking around and took pictures along the way.
At 3pm, I broke my fast and enjoyed my first CN meal.
Since I was in Vegas, I wanted to enjoy a little more something as part of my Carb Nite. So hubby and I walked out again and I got some more stuff in addition to my own homemade CN treats!
Meringue cookies!
ZERO FAT! Yes, there were some questionable ingredients but I DON’T CARE!
Sin #5: I devoured the entire jar (Hubby had 3 pieces)
They just melted in my mouth! Holy Moly, I need to remake these on my own for my next Carb Nite! It shouldn’t be hard, just egg whites whipped out with some sugar (in my case it would be Stevia powder- I’ll see how that will come out).
Along the way, more picture taking!
Sugar cookies!
They actually sold Gluten Free Sugar Cookies. I was about to try it but then after asking what were the ingredients, I decided it wasn’t going to fit into my treats (brown sugar! peanut butter! butter! eggs = TOO FATTY FOR CN!)
More sugar!
Sunday was super low key. I did my usual Glute and Legs Workout at the hotel gym. Unlike Saturday, it was less people. There weren’t any cardio bunnies on the treadmills.
Hubby didn’t join me this time. He said he wasn’t a big fan working out at a gym. Oh well, too bad he had to miss this conversation at the gym when I did BB Glute Bridge:
Guy: “What was that exercise for? For your gut?”
Me: “No. It’s for your butt.”
Guy “Oh no, I don’t think I want that. That looks hard. Girls are surely strong.”
In my mind, I was like “Well that’s why you need to train your butt to make it strong!”
It was a great Glutes and Legs workout! Plus the walks from yesterday sort of killed my legs a bit already.
Afterward we just checked out from the hotel and drove straight back home! Food wise? I snacked on my little fat/protein stash.
Overall, it was a nice little getaway but it was nice to be back home and enjoyed my own meals at my own comfort home.
Did you do anything special this last weekend?
