Whole30: Day 8
I woke up this morning and greeted by these guests on my kitchen counter top.
Ants! Ants! Ants! Ants! Ants! Everywhere on the counter top and there was NO FOOD at all! I hate ants! They always appear during hot summer time and there’s not much I could do except to keep my kitchen squeaky clean and make sure no food drop anywhere. Good thing I had that little ant bait sitting on my counter top so they would feast on it and die eventually.
On the other hand, I had to rescue my honey jar by putting it in a bowl of water so they won’t be able to reach it. Some ants were already swarming around it, good thing I caught it just in time!
One good thing of going paleo is I don’t have much sugary stuff (except some brown sugar that still sitting in the airtight container) in my kitchen cabinet. Too bad the ants would be just swarming around in my spice cabinet, which I think won’t interest them at all.
Okay, sorry for that yucky ants picture, I just need to vent out a bit.
I had an okay morning workout – not the best but not the worst either. Post workout/breakfast was left over raw zucchini noodles topped with orange & purple sweet potatoes and 2 hard boiled eggs drizzled with a bit of Red Boat Fish Sauce.
Ah purple yams! How I MISS YOU SO MUCH that I had to eat the remaining half (not pictured).
Hubby K and I went out a bit for my appointment (not job related unfortunately) so by the time we got back, I just cut to the chase.
I stir fried some mixed veggies: celery, julienne carrots and sliced zucchini seasoned with salt and pepper.
Pan fried chicken breasts which I marinated with Dukka inspired seasonings (sesame seeds, walnuts, coriander powder, cumin powder, plus salt and pepper for the chicken). It was ok, but I think next time I’d toast the sesame seeds and the walnuts a bit before grinding them to get that aroma out!
I topped the cooked chicken with saute chopped onions and shallots – YUM!
While waiting for everyone to come and sit down for lunch, I practiced 5 unassisted pistols on each leg. Gosh, after murdering my legs in the morning, pistols surely tough unassisted!
Here’s my lunch plate – sauerkraut on the side, stir fried mixed veggies, steamed Chinese Broccoli and 2 pieces of Dukka inspired seasoned chicken breasts topped with saute chopped onions.
Even though I wasn’t hungry during afternoon, I couldn’t resist myself for not snacking on Coconut Chips. Don’t ask how much I ate cause I honestly don’t know. I just stopped when I felt I had enough ๐
Thanks to those, I wasn’t feeling that hungry for dinner so I just had a small bowl of leftover Meat Sauce from yesterday, steamed Chinese veggies and (you guessed it!) sauerkraut.
I finally got a chance to get Robb Wolf’s The Paleo Diet Solution iBook version to my iPod, so I was reading it while enjoying my dinner. It was pretty interesting and I can’t wait to read the entire thing! His writing style is easy to understand, even for someone who doesn’t read that much like me.
Btw, I recently found out that Nina, one of fellow Bodyrocker told me that she decided to join the paleo bandwagon. I remembered the time when she first asked me what is Paleo and I briefly explained it to her. Truth to be told, I didn’t expect her to join the Paleo bandwagon. I can’t be happier to have more cave friends ๐
Whole30: Day 8 – Having a new paleo friend surely is my highlight of the day.
Speaking of which, what method do you use to get rid of ants?

um…can i come over? i would totally eat anything/everything you have posted in the last few days haha. i love yams, any kind! also, dig the variety of flavors you put in with spices & such—it’s what keeps things interesting! too lazy to click back but what’s this whole30 deal? x
Ants are icky because they like to stay or come back. My mom casts baking powder which makes them explode when they eat it. Not nice, but effective. ๐
