Goodbye Favorite Food
Yesterday hubby and I had to go to a dentist and having haircut afterward. It was such a weird day as it started off being sunny, then it got cold, gloomy and raining and then the sun came out again. We had quite a late breakfast so we thought we would be ok to have haircut first after the dentist.
Anyway, after our hair cut, it was almost 2 pm and granted we both pretty starving. Good thing since we haven’t ate much refined carbs, our body know when to burn our bodyfat for fuel so at least we didn’t feel like we were going to kill each other.
After careful not so much thought, we decided to have Thai food at this place which we came couple times before.
As usual our most favorite Thai dishes are Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Yes not exactly Paleo if you count the rice noodles, but I was too hungry to care for those. Beside, it’s not like I eat these all the time.
The Pad Thai was extremely OILY and way too sweet! I had to dollop a couple of chili sauce to cover up the sweet taste. Hubby did the same thing too, and he’s not the type of person who usually put sauces on his dishes.
The Pad See Ew however was a bit better.
But the Tom Yum Khai Barn soup was really good..warm and a bit sour. It really brought up the appetite.
Towards the end, Hubby decided to order another dish, BBQ Duck Red Curry.
He ate those with some steamed rice. I had a little bite of those.
In the end, we didn’t feel good after eating those. We were both felt sluggish and sleepy. I ended up not having any dinner despite I busted out two Bodyrock.tv workouts, but I heard Hubby K ate a little bit before he went to bed.
Today I paid dearly from eating those food. *sigh* I guess after clean eating for sometime, your body just knows right away when you’re not feeding it right.
Have you felt not good after eating out despite you ordered the same food that you did before?

Happy holidays, Jos! 🙂
I’m sorry to hear that! Usually I feel bad after eating out, especially after eating food that contains way too much salt and oil for my taste. With Asian restaurants there’s also the MSG problem, although I actually love Asian food. But I’m used to eating so clean now … I always order something like meat or fish and salad / vegetables, and ask for no or little salt (better no because the meaning of little is very flexible) and dressing by the side etc (after some drowned salad experiences), and then I’m usually okay. I enjoy my home-cooked meals much more, though.
I definitely understand what you are feeling. Those foods from before seem tempting, but in the end it just pays to have home-cooked food or something more healthy. I get funny grinding noises in my stomach and I know something is not right! I also seem to have changes in my taste buds. Now most foods that are sweet and/or salty that I liked before seem cloying and even unbearable. I now crave greens and fruits instead of those old foods.
Totally agree with home cooked food being the most optimal ones 🙂
